THIS IS A UNIQUE AND SCARCE OPPORTUNITY.

There is limited space available for this two-day ADVANCED SPEED & POWER CAMP – covering all four strokes. Only swimmers capable of swimming within the time standards above are eligible to attend. All participants will be in groups and lanes according to speed.

Swimmers who attend this camp will leave with the skills and knowledge to take their racing and athleticism to the next level of competition.  Olympians Kara Lynn Joyce and Matt Biondi will teach swimmers techniques for all four strokes, starts, and turns.  On land a world renowned strength and conditioning coach will lead swimmers in conditioning and fitness exercises that will increase balance and body awareness.

This unique camp is a must for all swimmers looking to increase power and speed.  See above for qualifying standards.

DAY ONE: SHORT-AXIS STROKES AND TURNS

  • UNDULATION:  Participants will learn the importance of creating a powerful undulation.  Both short-axis strokes, butterfly and breaststroke, center around the skill of pressing the chest and raising the hips, allowing for downhill swimming.
  • GENERATE POWER FROM THE CORE: Using the core to move forward creates a more powerful stroke.  Learn techniques that will drive the stroke from the core and move with increased fluidity.
  • RHYTHM AND TIMING: Creating a balanced and even stroke is key to both breaststroke and butterfly.  Learn where in the stroke to most effectively use the kick to move with the most speed.
  • POWERFUL FLIP TURNS AND FAST OPEN TURNS: Practice drills aimed at making turns explosive and efficient – allowing for more velocity off the walls and greater speed into the breakout

DAY TWO: LONG-AXIS STROKES AND STARTS

  • CLEAN ENTRY CATCH: Entering the water with a clean hand and immediatly beginning the catch sets up the stroke cycle for power.  Learn long-axis drills for freestyle and backstroke that will enable a bigger catch and enable swimmers to move forward with more efficiency.
  • FULL BODY CONNECTIVITY: Participants will learn how the clinicians use their core to connect the arms and legs as one powerful unit.  A progression of drills will be taught that will enable participants to use the entire body to move forward with more velocity.
  • POWER THROUGH THE BODY:  Learn advanced drills and techniques that will allow for a more elite level stroke that stresses efficiency.
  • EXPLOSIVE TRACK AND BACKSTROKE STARTS:  Learn the correct body position when doing a start from the blocks – which will enable participants to minimize wasted energy and maximize their power by entering the water with a tight bodyline

WATCH THE CLINICIANS: Observe Joyce and Biondi swim at full speed and demonstrate a progression of perfectly executed drills to achieve powerful, efficient and fast stroke.

GET UP AND RACE: Race two of the best swimmers in the world and watch their near-flawless technique – achieved by practicing the same drills they will teach you.

BECOME A STRONGER, MORE AGILE ATHLETE: On deck a world-class, swimming specific strength coach will teach strength and dryland exercises to improve athleticism and body aweareness, which transfer directly to increased power in the water

WIN BEFORE YOU GET IN THE POOL: Spend time with each Olympian learning the little tricks they use to edge out the competition

LEARN “WHAT ELSE” THE BEST DO TO REMAIN THE BEST: Participate in an in-depth discussion with the athletes covering such topics as nutrition, mental preparedness, and training regimen.
